Going to school, buttering your toast, getting dressed, looking for a job, starting a family... so many tasks and daily activities that are much less easy when you have a visual disability. The non-profit association Braille League provides free assistance to nearly 15,000 blind and partially sighted people throughout their lives. It provides a tailor-made response to each situation in the private or professional sphere aimed at supporting autonomy, while pursuing its 4 missions: (i) To support blind and visually impaired people so that they can develop their autonomy and integrate into society, (ii) To defend the interests of blind and visually impaired people so that their needs are better taken into account, (iii) To raise public awareness of the difficulties encountered by blind and visually impaired people, and (iv) To provide, in collaboration with the Scientific Committee of the Foundation for the Blind, support for research in ophthalmology. The head office of La Ligue Braille is located in Brussels but the association is active throughout Belgium, thanks to regional branches in Antwerp, Ath, Charleroi, Kortrijk, Ghent, Geel, Hasselt, Jambes, Libramont, Liège and Leuven.« I am more independent than I was before I knocked on the door of the Braille League. People around me are often amazed at how well I'm doing on my own. I am very proud of that! » Monique, beneficiary of the Braille League
